Brother began with Khutbatul Hajja:
“..Then I’m going to begin the topic inshaAllaah today regarding an important question that was to put to one of the great scholars of our era, Sheikh Abul-Aziz bin Baz Rahimahullah – the great Imam , the Mujahid, sheikul Islam of this era. He was asked by this young person,
”I am a youth and have exceeded beyond the limits against my own soul in the disobedience of Allaah, to the extent I have stopped praying and I don’t pray much. I have not fasted a full ramadhaan in the whole of my life, I do other ugly and evil acts and many times I have pledged to myself that I will repent and make tauba, and I do so but even after I done so, I go back to sinning. I have friends and companions in our area where I live who are not upon correct religion, they are not upon istiqama and they don’t practise their religion how it should be practised. Likewise I have family members, like my brothers, and they come to the house and they are not righteous either, and they bring their friends and they are not righteous either and I know that I have severely transgressed against my soul in sin and… I have done evil acts but every time I resolve myself and I am determined with the tauba to Allaah – I return back to sin as I was before! O sheikh our father, can you direct me to something that will bring me closer to Allaah and distance me away from the evil deeds…”
Sheikh Abdul-Aziz bin Baz Rahimahullahu ta’aala, answered this youth:
He said to Him : Indeed Allaah had said in his book*:
“Say to them O Muhammad, O my servants who have transgressed against themselves with sin, do not despair at the mercy of Allaah, indeed Allaah forgives all sins, Indeed He is the oft Forgiving most Merciful..”
Sheikh Abdul-Aziz mentioned that the scholars have agreed that this noble ayah was revealed regarding the one who repented and then they sinned, so Whoever repented from sins with a sincere and truthful tauba then Allaah will forgive all of his sins due to this ayah that Allaah subhannahu wata’ala mentions
”Say to them O Muhammad, O my servants who have against their own selves transgressed with sin , do not despair with the mercy of Allaah..”
We are not my sisters individuals who desapir! The ulemah have agreed Allaah accepts tauba of the one who seeks Allaahs tauba, and seeks forgiveness from Allaah. Allaah will forgive sins, likewise Allaah has stated in an ayah:
”O believers turn to Allah in repentance a true and sincere repentance, it may be your Lord forgives your sins and admit you into gardens with rivers flow..”
Likewise my sisters we should understand its seeking the tauba of Allah that would expiate our sins, and remove the filth of sins, from our hearts and bodies. ”O you who believe turn to Alaah in repentannce, a true sincere repentance.”
Likewise the messenger salAllaahu alayhe wa salam said ”O Mankind seek tauba from Allaah indeed I seek tauba from Allaah a 100 times a day..”
This is the messenger commanding us with tauba of Allaah!
O people seek the tauba from Allaah subhannahu wata’ala!
We do not despair my sisters!
Allaah the most High as sheikh Bin Baz has mentioned connected the expiation of ones sins and entrance into gardens of paradise with a sincere repentance:
If you want to make Tauba , these are the stages you have to go through:
- Leaving alone the sin,
- Feel remorse over that which you have done.
- Make firm resolve not to return back to it due to your veneration of Allaah.
- Hoping in His reward and fearing in His punishment.
And also from the conditions of tauba is that if you have wronged someone – that you return the right you have taken from them, and seek Allaah’s forgiveness. Sheikh AbdulAziz Bin Baz mentioned if you have taken someone’s wealth, or taken someone blood, or taken someone honour return their wealth, pay their compensation and return back their honour if you have dishonoured them. These are the requirements my sisters for those who wishes to make tauba to Allaah Jalla wa ala.
Be from those individuals my sisters who are constant in the seeking forgiveness from Allaah.

Read the Chapter of Repentance from Riyadhus Saaliheen while listening to the lecture
Scholars said: It is necessary to repent from every sin. If the offense involves the Right of Allah, not a human, then there are three conditions to be met in order that repentance be accepted by Allah:
1- To desist from committing it.
2- To feel sorry for committing it.
3- To decide not to recommit it.Any repentance failing to meet any of these three conditions, would not be sound.
But if the sin involves a human’s right, it requires a fourth condition, i.e., to absolve onself from such right. If it is a property, he should return it to its rightful owner. If it is slandering or backbiting, one should ask the pardon of the offended.
One should also repent from all sins. If he repents from some, his repentance would still be sound according to the people of sound knowledge. He should, however, repent from the rest. Scriptural proofs from the Book and the Sunnah and the consensus of the scholars support the incumbency of repentance.

Ahlul Bid’ah are worse and more dangerous than any other evildoers, because they corrupt the religion of Allaah directly.
A sinner is not as dangerous because he admits he is astray and that what he’s doing is not from Islam, and he intends to repent for what he’s doing wrong. As for an innovator, he corrupts the religion and he corrupts the people, and he rarely repents from bid’ah, because he has made his bid’ah part of his religion.

Sufyaan Ath-Thawree, may Allaah have mercy on him, said:
“Innovation is more beloved to Iblees (the Devil) than sins. This is because sins are repented from whereas innovations are not repented from.” (Majmoo’-ul-Fataawaa (11/472))
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
“Verily Allaah has prevented repentance from every person of innovation.”
(Silsilat-ul-Ahaadeeth as-Saheehah (1620))Al-Hasan Al-Basree, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said:
“Do not sit with a person of innovation, for indeed he will put a disease in your heart.”
(Al-I’tisaam of Ash-Shaatibee (1/72)
Ash-Shaatibee (158) said:
“Indeed the saved sect – and they are Ahl-us-Sunnah – are commanded to disassociate themselves from the people of innovations, to expel them, and to punish severely anyone that follows in their direction, whether by killing them or less than that. And the scholars have warned us against accompanying and gathering with them.”
