Allah commands His believing servants to eat from the pure things that He has created for them and to thank Him for it, if they are truly His servants. Eating from pure sources is a cause for the acceptance of supplications and acts of worship, just as eating from impure sources prevents the acceptance of supplications and acts of worship, as mentioned in a Hadith recorded by Imam Ahmad, that Abu Hurayrah said that Allah’s Messenger said:

“O people! Allah is Tayyib (Pure and Good) and only accepts that which is Tayyib. Allah has indeed commanded the believers with what He has commanded the Messengers, for He said: (O (you) Messengers! Eat of the Tayyibat and do righteous deeds. Verily, I am well-acquainted with what you do” (23:51)

(O you who believe! Eat of the lawful things that We have provided you with) He then mentioned a man, (who is engaged in a long journey, whose hair is untidy and who is covered in dust, he raises his hands to the sky, and says, `O Lord! O Lord!’ Yet, his food is from the unlawful, his drink is from the unlawful, his clothes are from the unlawful, and he was nourished by the unlawful, so how can it (his supplication) be accepted”) It was also recorded by Muslim and At-Tirmidhi

“Whoever gives charity equivalent to a date, from his pure earnings and Allah only accepts pure then Allah will accept it with His right hand, then He will nurture it for its companion, like one of you nurtures his foal, until it becomes like a mountain.” Reported by al-Bukhari (#1410) and others

“A time will come upon people that a man will no longer care about whether he gets his money by halaal or haraam means.” (Al-Bukhaaree)

The prophet (peace be upon him) said (what means):

“Take advantage of 5 things before 5 things overcome you:

  1. Take advantage of your youth before your old age.
  2. Take advantage of your health before your sickness.
  3. Take advantage of of you life before your death.
  4. Take advantage of your richness before you poverty, and
  5. Take advantage of your free time before becoming preoccupied.”

[Narrated by al-Haakim on the authority of Ibn Abbaas.]

Look to those below you – Sheikh Aasim Al Qoryooti [Mp3|Ar-En]

Look to those below you
Lecture by Sheikh Dr. ‘Asim Qaryooti (hafidhahullaah)

Prophet (sallallâhû alaihi wa-sallam) said: “Do not look to those above you. Look to those below you, as it will more likely remind you of Allâh’s favors bestowed on you.” [Sahîh al-Bukharî and Sahîh Muslim]

On another occasion, he said: “If one of you looks at someone wealthier and better built than him, he should also look at someone of lower standard than himself.” [Sahîh Muslim]

The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: “If this world were worth a mosquito’s wing before Allah, He would not give a disbeliever a drink of water.” [At-Tirmidhee]

The favors of Allah in the world are a test; the more the favors, the more the tests. Al-Hasan al-Basri said: “Umar Ibn Khattab wrote this letter to Abu Musa al-Ash’ari, ‘Be content with your provision in this world, for the Most Merciful has honored some of His servants over others in terms of provision as a test of both. The one who has been given plenty is being tested to see if he will give thanks to Allah and fulfill the duties which are his by virtue of his wealth” [Ibn Hatim]

Allah, the Exalted, has therefore forbidden us from desiring what other have, “Do not wish for what we have favored some of you over others.” [Soorah an-Nisa (4): 32]

The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: “Envy is allowed in two cases, in case of a man whom Allah has given the Qur’aan and who recites it throughout night and day; and a man on whom Allah has bestowed wealth who gives it away throughout night and day.” [Saheeh al-Bukharee and Saheeh Muslim] and he (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) also explained what may be said: “I wish I were given what he was given and did with it what he did.”

And [remember] when your LORD proclaimed “If you give thanks (by accepting Faith and worshipping none but Allah), I will give you more (of My Blessings), but if you are thankless (i.e. disbelievers), verily! My Punishment is indeed severe.” (Ibrahim 14:7)

‘As a Favour from Us, thus do We reward him who gives thanks (by obeying Us).’ (Al-Qamar 54:35)

Verily, your Lord is full of Grace for mankind, yet most of them do not give thanks.” (An-Naml 27:73)

Read the Story mentioned in the audio @ Story of the Leper, the Bald Man and the Blind Man

Allah , says:

And truly, if We give him a taste of mercy from Us, after some adversity has touched him, he is sure to say: This is for me; I think not that the Hour will be established, but if I am brought back to my Lord, surely, there will be for me the best with Him. Then, We verily, will show to the disbelievers what they have done and We shall make them taste a severe torment” (Qur’an 41:50)

In this verse, Allah , Most Glorified, Most High, informs us when He blesses the disbelieving man or the doubter with health, well-being and wealth, after being afflicted with sickness, poverty or loss, he will not be thankful to his Rabb, but instead will boast that it is his right upon Allah . Then He , Most High, makes clear that the reason for this is his doubt in the reality of the Day of Judgement and all that it entails, including the Resurrection and the Gathering and that in his ignorance and stupidity, he exceeds even this, for he believes that should it prove that the Hereafter is a reality, he will find great blessings with his Rabb.

Then Allah warns him that he will be shown his deeds and that he will be held to account for them on that Day and he will receive a terrible punishment.

Benefits Derived From This Verse

1. That good and evil are by Allah’s Decree.
2. The obligation to be thankful for Allah’s Blessings.
3. Confirmation of the establishment of the Hour.
4. That doubt concerning the truth of the Resurrection is kufr.
5. That belief in Allah is not sufficient without belief in the Resurrection.
6. Confirmation of the reward and punishment.

Relevance of This Verse to the Subject of the Chapter

  • That it proves that attributing blessings to other than Allah is kufr.

Relevance of This Verse to the Subject of Tawheed

  • That it forbids attributing blessings to other than Allah , because to do so is to set up partners with Him, Most High, in Rabbship.

Attaining Happiness – Using Time Wisely – Shaykh ‘Abdullaah al-Bukhaaree [Mp3|Ar-En]

An important advice about preserving time and not wasting it. How does a person waste one’s heart? How does one waste one’s time? It is as Ibnul-Qayyim said: “Prefering the dunyaa over the hereafter and busying oneself with too many wants and hopes

وَالْعَصْرِ

 By Al-’Asr (the time). (Al-’Asr 103:1)

إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ

Verily! Man is in loss, (Al-’Asr 103:2)

إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ

Except those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth (i.e. order one another to perform all kinds of good deeds (Al-Ma’roof) which Allâh has ordained, and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds (Al-Munkar)which Allaah has forbidden), and recommend one another to patience (for the sufferings, harms, and injuries which one may encounter in Allaah’s Cause during preaching His religion of Islâmic Monotheism or Jihaad, etc.). (Al-’Asr 103:3)

The lecture centers around the usage of time, using it wisely
. Shaykh ‘Abdullaah mentions other verses demonstrating the purpose of our creation. A good reminder in a world full of amusement and bedazlement, may Allaah give us wisdom and purpose.
