ImaamAbu Muhammadal Barbahaaree (d. 329 H rahimahullaah), said in his Sharh Us-Sunnah :

May Allaah have mercy upon you! Examine carefully the speech of everyone you hear from in your time particularly. So do not act in haste and do not enter in anything from it until you ask and see: Did any of the Companions of the Prophet, may Allaah’s praise and salutations be upon him, speak about it, or did any of the scholars? So if you find a narration from them about it, cling to it, do not go beyond it for anything and do not give precedence to anything over it and thus fall into the Fire.

Al-Mulakhas fee Sharh Kitaabit-Tawheed – What Has Been Said About At-Tanjeem – Abu Muhammad al Maghribee [Audio|En]

Listen / Download Mp3 Here (Time 40:27)

This is the weekly Saturday morning class given at Masjid at-Tawheed in Stone Mountain, GA.
From the book Al-Mulakhas fee Sharh Kitaabit-Tawheed by Sheikh Saaleh al-Fawzaan.

You may download the original text in Arabic here: الملخص في شرح كتاب التوحيد

We begin reading from the explanation of the chapter:

What Has Been Said About At-Tanjeem

Bukhari narrates in his Saheeh, that Qatadah said:

“Allah created these stars for three reasons: (i) To adorn the heaven, (ii) as missiles against the devils and (ii) as signs by which (the traveller) may be guided; and so whoever claims more than this for them has is erroneous and has lost his reward (on the Day of Resurrection) and taken upon himself that of which he has no knowledge.”

In this narration, Qatadah informs us that Allah , Most High, Created the stars for only three things: The first, to beautify the night sky; the second, as projectiles against the devils who approach the lowest heaven in order to overhear the angels speaking of the Commandments of Allah  which they then attempt to convey to the fortune-tellers and soothsayers;  and the third, as guidance for the wayfarer at night, whether on land or at sea. He added that anyone who claims more than this for the stars such as the claims of astrologers, that the positions of the stars and planets exert an influence on our daily lives, is acting out of ignorance, and will receive no reward from Allah  on the Day of Judgement and has gone astray from the Straight Path.

Sharh us Sunnah of Imaam Al-Barbahaari :

A person may receive one of three tidings when he dies Know that there are three forms of address of tidings given when one dies.

  1. It may be said, “Receive good tidings, O beloved one of Allah, of Allah’s pleasure and Paradise.”
  2. It may be said, “Receive evil tidings, O enemy of Allah, of Allah’s anger and the Fire.”
  3. It may be said, “Receive tidings, O servant of Allah, of Paradise due to Islam.”

This is the saying of Ibn Abbas [As is mentioned in Tafseer Ibn Katheer (2/531-538)] Source

Sharh us Sunnah of Imaam Al-Barbahaari :

To have Faith that it was Allah, the Blessed and Most High, who spoke to Moosa ibn ‘Imraan on the day of Mount Toor and that Moosa heard Allah’s speech: a voice that he heard from Him, not from other than Him. He who says other than this has disbelieved in Allah, the Sublime (the Mighty) [1].

NOTES

[1] Shaikhul-Islam ibn Taymiyyah said,

“The reports are abundant from the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam), the Companions, the Tabi’een and the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah after them that He, the Most Perfect, calls with a voice. He called upon Moosa and will call upon His servants on the Day of Resurrection with a voice. He speaks the Revelation with a voice. It is not reported from a single one of the Salaf that he said, ‘Allah speaks without a voice,’ or without words, nor that anyone denied that Allah speaks with a voice and with words.” (Al-Majmoo’ ul-Fataawa, 12/304-305).

‘Abdulllah ibn Ahmad reports in as-Sunnah (no.532):

I asked my father (Imaam Ahmad) about a people who say that when Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, spoke to Moosa, He did not speak with a voice. So my father said, “Rather, your Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, did speak with a voice. We relate these ahaadeeth just as they are reported.”

‘Abdullah ibn Ahmad reports in as-Sunnah (no.535): I heard Abu Ma’mar al-Hudhalee say,

“Whoever claims that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, does not speak, nor hear, nor see, nor become angry, nor is pleased (and he mentioned some attributes) then he is a disbeliever in Allah, the Mighty and Majestic. If you see him standing by a well, throw him into it. This is what I hold as my religion before Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, since they are disbelievers in Allah, the Most High.”

Al-Aajuree says in ash-Sharee’ah (p75),

“May Allah have mercy upon us and you. Know that the saying of the Muslims whose hearts have not deviated from the truth and those who were guided to what is correct in the past and the present is that the Qur’an is the speech of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic. It is not created, since the Qur’an is from the Knowledge of Allah, the Most High. The Knowledge of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, is not created. High is Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, above that. This is proven by the Qur’an, the Sunnah, the sayings of the Companions (radiallaahu ta’aalaa ‘anhum) and the sayings of the scholars of the Muslims (rahmatullaahi ta’aala alaihim). It is not denied except by a filthy Jahmee. In the view of the scholars, the Jahmiyyah are disbelievers.”

An-Nushrah during Jahiliyyah (Counteracting Magic with its Like) – Sharh Kitaabit-Tawheed by Sheikh Saaleh al-Fawzaan – Abu Muhammad al-Maghribee [Audio|Eng]

An-Nushrah (Counteracting Magic with its Like)
Abu Muhammad al-Maghribee

What has Been Said About An-Nushrah

It is reported on the authority of Jabir (Radhi Allaahu Anhu) that Allah’s Messenger was asked about an-nushrah and he said:

“It is one of the works of Satan.” (Narrated by Ahmad with a good Sanadand by Abu Dawood

Who said: “Ahmad was asked about these matters and he answered that Ibn Mas’ood detested all such things.”)

Because an-nushrah was one of the actions of the Jahiliyyah, and the Companions had no desire or liking for the Jahiliyyah or its deeds, they asked the Prophet about an-nushrah. He replied that it is one of the works of Satan, and it is well-known that Satan orders not except that which is corrupt and detestable to the Believer. As for that which is permissible and not from the works of Satan, there is ar-ruqyah, seeking refuge (with Allah swt ) and the use of all permissible medicines (i.e. those which do not contain forbidden substances such as alcohol, pig fat etc.) and the Hadith is not a forbiddance of these things.

Posted from: http://followthesalaf.com/blog/2013/5/18/explanation-of-kitaab-at-tawheed

“Ibn Al-Qayyim said: “An-Nushrah is counteracting the effects of magic and it consists of two kinds:

1. Counteracting magic with its like and this is the work of the devil.

2. An-Nushrah by means of ar-ruqyah, seeking refuge with Allah , permissible medicines and making supplications to Allah – these are all permitted forms of an-nushrah.

73. Abu Umamah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) during the sermon of the Farewell Pilgrimage saying, ”Be mindful of your duty to Allah; perform your five daily Salat, observe Saum during the month (of Ramadan) , pay the Zakat on your properties and obey your leaders; (if you do so) you will enter the Jannah of your Rubb”.
[At-Tirmidhi].

Commentary: The word Wada`, means to say farewell. The Farewell Pilgrimage was the last pilgrimage, the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) performed, and on this occasion he bade farewell to the people and for this reason it came to be known as Hajjat-ul-Wada`. Obedience of  the rulers is stressed but it is conditional, that is to say, they are to be obeyed only if their orders are not against the injunctions of Allah. Similarly, their obedience is obligatory till such time that they do not do anything which amounts to open disbelief. If any of these two things occurs, then no obedience would be due to them.

Guidelines In Islam For The Woman – Abdur-Razzaq ibn Abdil-Muhsin Al-Badr – Abu Muhammad al-Maghribee [Audio|En]

Khutbah – Guidelines In Islam For The Woman

This Friday Khutbah was given at Masjid At-Tawheed in Stone Mountain, GA.

This was taken from one of the khutab of our noble sheikh Abdur-Razzaq ibn Abdil-Muhsin Al-Badr. You can find the original audio and transcription here:صيانة الإسلام للمرأة

These are beautiful guidelines that every Muslim woman should adhere to. They do not oppress her nor do they take her freedom, as some foolish people claim. Rather they are legislated by Allahu subhaanahu wa ta’aala to preserve and protect the precious and priceless gem that is the Muslim woman.
