PIVOTAL QUOTE:

“My recommendation to my brothers is to show the goodness of Islaam and make apparent the beauty of Islaam and show fervency in ibaadah (worship) such that in these lands of the west the people will see the goodness of Islaam perhaps Allaah will guide through you.”

The Shaykh began by making dua (supplication) for Allaah to accept our fasts in Ramadhaan.

Then he mentioned that fasting is a shield and protection from the fire of hell just like the shield protects in battle. He said that we should strive and put forth the utmost effort in reciting the Quraan in this month, mentioning that the Prophet (sallaAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) was the most generous in Ramadhaan and this was when Jibreel(‘alayhi salam) would revise the Quraan with him (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

Our Shaykh continued that it was narrated by Hudhayfah (radi Allaahu ‘anhu) that the Prophet (sallaAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) in the night prayer read all of Surat al-BaqarahSuratan-Nisaa, and Surataal-Imran in one rakah, reading slowly and enjoying it, and every time he read an ayah about the Mercy of Allaah, He (sallaAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would ask Allaah for his Mercy, and every time he read an ayah about the fire He (sallaAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would seek refuge from it.

This and many other evidences indicate that we should strive to spend more time with the Quraan in Ramadhaan. The Shaykh emphasized that if we don’t recite the Quraan in this month, then when will we, as the Quraan goes hand in hand with Ramadhaan. He mentioned some examples of thesalaf and their recitation and study of The Quraan in Ramadhaan, like Imaam az-Zuhri and Imaam Maalik (May Allaah have mercy on them).

He encouraged that we do dhikr (rememberance of Allaah) abundantly, and use the time wisely and not indulge in watching  TV, playing games and other frivolous activities that are of no benefit from the things that people kill time with these days, as time is short and perhaps this might be our last Ramadhaan.

Advising us, the Shaykh implored us to be keen in giving charity, especially inRamadhaan. He explained a narration concerning the virtue of spending in the cause of Allaahreiterating that Allaah will increase and multiply our earnings and reward for whatever little we spend in the cause ofAllaah, and it will be like a mountain for us on the Day of Judgement. Allaah says the likeness of one who spends in  the cause of Allaah is like a seed that has grown seven stalks of wheat and each stalk contains one hundred seeds. He added that people are generally interested in multiplication of their investments and interest, and the interest from the bank is incomparable to what Allaah will give the one who spends in His cause.

Finally the Shaykh said “my recommendation to my brothers is to show the goodness of Islaam and make apparent the beauty of Islaam and show fervency in ibaadah (worship) such that in these lands of the west the people will see the goodness of Islaam perhaps Allaah will guide through you.

A Special Ramadhaan Advice for The Sisters by Shaykh 'Uthmaan as-Saalimee

Bismillaah wa -Alhamdulillaah wa Salaatu wa Salaam ‘alaa Rasulillaah ‘amma ba’d

Muwahhideen Publications facilitated a LIVE question and answer session for the sisters of Trinidad & Tobago with our teacher, the muhaddith (scholar of hadeeth) Ash-Shaykh Abu ‘Abdullaah ‘Uthmaan ibn ‘Abdullaah as-Saalimee (May Allaah Preserve Him), one of the major scholars of Yemen. This is part of Masjid ulKhaleefah’s Sisters’ Camp 2012, “The Journey of The Muslimah: Her Life, Her Death and Hereafter.”

This was a special sitting via telelink organized for the sisters at Masjid ul Khaleefah, Longdenville, Trinidad. The Shaykh began by giving a short naseehah (advice) to the sisters, that is of course pertinant to the brothers as well. He addressed the sisters by mentioning  the ayah 35 in Soorah-tul Ahzab in reference to those who obey Allaah and His Messenger (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), and the Shaykh praised the women who are properly covered by observing the proper hijab, and those who guard their chastity and private parts, as Allaah praised in this verse, mentioning the reward that Allaah has prepared for them. Then Shaykhanna ‘Uthmaan (hafidhahullaah) mentioned the bounty of Ramadhaan and the great rewards that await in this month, from them is the forgiveness of sins from Allaah. Then he admonished the muslims to learn the ahkam(rulings) of fasting and specifically the women in the affair of menses etc. and he mentioned some examples.

May Allaah Al-Aleem cause us to benefit and alleviate our ignorance through sound knowldege. May Allaahgive us knowledge that benefits and protect us from knowledge that does not benefit.

Beware! The Callers to The Hellfire by Shaykh Uthman as-Saalimee

The Shaykh, The Muhadith, Abu ‘Abdullaah ‘Uthman ibn ‘Abdullaah as-Saalimee (hafidhahullaah) elaborated on the necessity of following the Sunnah of The Messenger sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam and staying away from innovations in the religon. He then explained that staying away from innovations also entails staying away from the innovators and the callers to innovation. The Shaykh brought some beautiful athaar (narrations) from the pious predecessors with regard to them exhausting all efforts to stay away from the likes of these deviants in their time. They went to the extent of blocking their ears when these misguided people would recite an ayahof The Quraan, to prefering their neighbours to be pigs and apes than that of the innovators!
