Swearing by the Qur'an – Shaykh Muhammad al-Imam [Video|Ar-En Subtitles]

“What is the ruling in Islaam for those who swear by the Qur’an?”

Shaykh Muhammad al-Imam (حفظه الله):

“It is permissible to swear by the Noble Qur’an with the majority of the people of knowledge, because the Qur’an is the Speech of Allah and the Speech of Allah is an attribute from the attributes of Allah.

Some of the Salaf disliked swearing by the Noble Qur’an, however it is permissible, although it is more virtuous to swear by Allah from the Attributes of Allah (عز و جل‎). As the Messenger (صلى الله عليه و سلم) said: ‘By the One in who’s hand is my soul (i.e. Allah عز و جل‎).’ This is better and more appropriate.”

The Disease of Seeking Fame & Status – by Shaykh Muhammad al-Imaam [Audio|Ar-En]

The Disease of Seeking Fame & Status - by Shaykh Muhammad al-Imaam

Listen / Download Mp3 Here (Time 31:47)

An unfortunate disease that has plagued many of the Muslims today is that of seeking to obtain fame and status through the knowledge one has acquired or the desire to be put in the spotlight or in a leadership position.

The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) gave us a stern warning against this dangerous ambition.

He, (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), said “If anyone acquires knowledge of things by which Allaah’s good pleasure is sought, but acquires it only to get some worldly advantage, he will not experience the arf i.e. the odour of Paradise.” [Reported by Ahmad (2/338), Abu Daawood (3664), and others from Abu Hurayrah radiAllaahu ‘anhu. Authenticated by Shaykh al-Albaanee in Saheehul-Jaami (6159)]

In another narration the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) warned us by saying: “Do not learn the knowledge to amaze/stupefy by it the scholars, nor to delight against the foolish by it, nor to possess the gatherings by it. Whosoever does so, then the Fire, the fire.” [Reported by Abu Hurayrah in al-Faqeeh wal-Mutafaqqih of Khateeb al-Baghdaadee (2/88).]

And in yet another severe warning, the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said “…So the first to be summoned will be a man who learned knowledge and taught it and read the Qur’an. He will come with it and favours to him will be made known to him and he will recognise it. It will be said: What have you done by it? ‘He will say: ‘I studied the knowledge and taught it and recited for You the Qur’an. It will be said:

‘You have lied. Rather you studied the knowledge so that it would be said of you: ‘a scholar’ and you recited the Qur’an so it would be said of you: ‘a reciter.’ And that was said. Then he will be commanded and would be dragged on his face until he is thrown into the Fire… [Narrated by Muslim, an-Nasaaee (6/23-24), Ahmad (2/322) and others, from Abu Hurayrah.]

From the sayings of the salaf, it is reported that there was a young man who was from the people of knowledge who used to put himself forward, speak and behave haughtily with his knowledge in front of those older than him. This angered Sufyân [Ath-Thawrî] and he said, “The Salaf were never like this; they never used to claim leadership, or sit at the head of the gathering until they had sought this knowledge for thirty years, and you act haughty in front of those who are older than you. Get up, I never want to see you even come close to my circle.” [Al-Bayhaqi, Al-Madkhal ila Al-Sunan Al-Kubra 2:74.]

These narrations vividly illustrate the catastrophic outcome of insincerity in seeking knowledge and the dislike of seeking to be known and putting oneself forward.

Our Shaykh Muhammad al Imaam (hafidhahullaah) will delve into the issue of this disease of seeking fame and status which is of extreme importance to familiarize ourselves with so that we may safeguard ourselves from it.

We ask Allaah to unite us upon the haqq and to call to its pure teachings and save us from the differing and discord amongst ourselves.

Indeed This Knowledge Is Religion So Look To The One You Take Your Religion From – Shaykh Muhammad al-Imaam [Audio|Ar-En]

Indeed This Knowledge Is Religion So Look To The One You Take Your Religion From by Shaykh Muhammad al-Imaam

Listen / Download Mp3 Here (Time 31:46)

Imaam Ibn Seereen (rahimahullah) said, “Indeed, this knowledge Is Deen, so look to the one you take your Deen from.”

Shaykh Ahmad Ibn ‘Umar Bazmool (hafidhahullah) stated in explanation of the above statement of Imaam Ibn Seereen (rahimahullah):

Indeed, Allah (Azza-Wa-Jal) has commanded us this (affair) when He (Azza-Wa-Jal) said,

“So ask the people of the Dhikr (the Reminder), if you do not know.” [Soorah al-Anbiyaa`:7]

Allah commanded us to ask the people of the Dhikr (the Reminder), and the Salafus Saalih clarified that the ‘Ulamaa` are the people of the Dhikr. So Allah (Azza-Wa-Jal) specifying the ‘Ulamaa` as (those) to be asked is evidence that others besides them are not to be asked. And likewise, Imaams Bukhaari and Muslimreported in the Saheehayn on the authority of ‘Aa`ishah (radhiyAllahu ‘anhaa) that the Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) recited the statement of Allah (Azza-Wa-Jal), “It is He Who has sent down to you (Muhammad) the Book (this Qur’aan).

In it are Verses that are entirely clear, they are the foundations of the Book [and those are the Verses of Al-Ahkaam (commandments, etc.), Al-Faraa’id (obligatory duties) and Al-Hudud (legal laws for the punishment of thieves, adulterers, etc.)]; and others not entirely clear. So as for those in whose hearts there is a deviation (from the truth) they follow that which is not entirely clear thereof, seeking Al-Fitnah (polytheism and trials, etc.), and seeking for its hidden meanings, but none knows its hidden meanings save Allah.” [Soorah Aali ‘Imraan: 7]

(Then after reciting the above ayah), he (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “If you see those who follow thereof that is not entirely clear, then they are those whom Allaah has named [as having deviation from the truth]. So beware of them.” [Reported by Bukhaari in Kitaab At-Tafseer]

In this hadeeth is a warning against a people who give out knowledge, teach and issue verdicts. So their condition must be known.

Imaam Nawawi (rahimahullah) said, ”In this hadeeth is a warning against mixing with the people of deviation, the people of bid’ah and those who seek after the difficult affairs (of the Religion), seeking by it fitnah. So they are not to be consented to, rather (they are to be) restrained and subdued just as ‘Umar Ibnul Khattaab (radhiyAllahu ‘anhu) subdued Sabee Ibn Asl when he sought after the Mutashaabih (the unclear verses).

Our Shaykh Muhammad al-Imaam (hafidhahullah) will admonish us concerning this critical matter and highlight for us the gravity of being lax with respect to who we take knowledge from.

We ask Allah, Al-Haqq to show us the truth and make it easy for us to follow it and show us the falsehood and make it easy for us to distance ourselves from it.

Attach The Children's Hearts To Tawheed – Shaykh Muhammad al-Imaam [Audio|Ar-En]

Attach The Children's Hearts To Tawheed by Shaykh Muhammad al-Imaam

Listen / Download Mp3 Here (Time 34:51)

Muwahhideen Publications in conjunction with Masjid Anas Bin Malik is pleased to present a LIVE tele-lecture on Saturday 15th June 2013 with Ash-Shaykh Muhammad Ibn ‘Abdullaah al-Imaam (May Allah Preserve Him) as part of this weekend’s conference entitled, “Teaching Our Children Tawheed”. The Shaykh supervises Markaz Dar-ul-Hadeeth in Ma’bar, Yemen and is one of the major scholars of our time, May Allah preserve him.

Allah says in His Book,

“O you who believe! Ward off from yourselves and your families a Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones”[At-Tahrim: 6]

‘Ali Ibn Abi Taalib (radhiyAllahu ‘anhu) mentioned concerning this ayah, “Discipline them, teach them.”

Qataadah (rahimahullah) said, “A person protects his family by telling them to obey Allah and forbidding them from disobeying Him. He upholds Allah’s commandments and helps his family to uphold them. So if you see some disobedience of Allah you stop them from doing it, and you reprimand them.” [Al-Tabarî, Al-Tafsîr, Sûrah Al-Tahrîm] [From]

So parents must strive to cultivate their children upon Tawheed, which is foundation of this pure Deen.

According to Al-Allaamah, Al-Mujaddid, Ash-Shaykh Muhammad Naasir-ud-Deen al-Albaani (rahimahullah),

“The key to a return of the glory of Islaam is through the implementation of beneficial knowledge and establishing righteous and correct actions, and this is a very great affair which the Muslims cannot reach, except through the manhaj (methodology) of tasfiyah (purification and correction) and tarbiyah (education and cultivation).”

By tasfiyah, it is intended that the Islaamic ‘Aqeedah be purified from what is alien to it, the Islaamic Fiqh be purified from erroneous judgments which are contrary to the Qur’aan and Sunnah and that the books ofTafseerFiqhRaqaa’iq and other than them be purified from the weak and fabricated ahadeeth.

With respect to tarbiyah, then it is to cultivate the young generation upon this purified Islaam and to provide them a correct Islaamic education free from any influence of the disbelieving western education. [Taken from with some paraphrasing]

Our Shaykh Muhammad al-Imaam (hafidhahullah) will admonish us regarding this crucial topic and by the Permission of Allah we will realize the extreme importance of cultivating our children upon Tawheed and thus strive to implement the advices offered by the Shaykh.

We ask Allah to bestow upon us offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes and that He brings forth from our progeny those who will aid the Deen of Islaam and the Muslims.

From The Exaltation of Allaah Is To Honour The Elderly Muslim, The Memorizer of The Qur'aan & The Just Ruler by Shaykh Muhammad al-Imaam

Bismillaah wa -Alhamdulillaah wa Salaatu wa Salaam ‘alaa Rasulillaah ‘amma ba’d

On Thursday 17th January 2013, Muwahhideen Publications hosted a LIVE tele-link lecture with the Noble Shaykh Muhammad Ibn ‘Abdullaah al-Imaam (May Allaah Preserve him) who lectured to us about the hadeeth concerning honouring the elderly Muslim, memorizer of Qur’aan and just ruler.

Listen / Download Mp3 Here or Here (Time 33:02)

Our Shaykh Muhammad al-Imaam (hafidhahullaah) started by saying, it has been narrated by nine of the companions (radhiyAllaahu ‘anhum) that the Messenger (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said,

“Verily Allaah has given everyone their due right.”

This great hadeeth shows us there is not a single creation of Allaah except that it has rights in the Sharee’ah of Islaam; even the animals have rights. So how about the rights of the believers upon one another. If you want to ask for your rights in full, then ask for them in accordance to the Sharee’ah; and research your rights in it.

Firstly, there are the rights of Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’alaa which must be established, then the rights of the slaves of Allaah. As for the rights ofAllaah, they are well known; that is At-Tawheed and it is to be sincere to Allaah in all actions of worship. So whoever establishes the worship and Lordship for Allaah which includes being pleased with His legislation and to submit to His Decree and Pre-Destiny, then this individual has established the religion and is upon great good from Allaah.

The rights of the creation that were legislated in the Sharee’ah, specifically the rights of the believing men and women upon one another are many. From them is what has been indicated in the hadeeth of Abu Musaa al-Ash’ari (radhiyAllaahu ‘anhu) that the Messenger (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said,

“It is out of reverence to Allaah in respecting an aged Muslim, and the one who commits the Qur’aan to memory and does not exaggerate pronouncing its letters not forgets it after memorizing it, and to respect the just ruler.”

The Shaykh then stated that to glorify the rights of the Sharee’ah is in itself glorification of Allaah. He proceeded to say that the mentioning of honouring the elderly from amongst the Muslims is indicative that the elderly in age must be honoured, even if there is no blood relation between you and them. With respect to the elderly who are related to you by blood, it is required that you honour, respect, be humble to and serve them even more. Look to what Allaah has advised us with concerning the rights of the parents and how we are supposed to honour them so how about the elderly from amongst us.

Allaah says in the Qur’aan,

“And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour. And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say: “My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was small.” [Al-Israa`:23-24]

This honourable ayah has gathered all of the good manners and etiquettes that are binding upon the sons and daughters towards their parents. It includes all of the rights and obligations, which all the laws of this world are incapable of fulfilling or even comprehending, regarding being upon piety toward one’s parents. So praise Allaah, your Lord, Who has sent down the Qur’aan and preserved it till the Day of Judgement.

Likewise, if you were to look at what the Sharee’ah came with regarding the rights of the people of knowledge you would find that they have been given a right and position after that of the Prophets and Messengers.

 As Allaah says,

“And whoso obeys Allaah and the Messenger (Muhammad sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), then they will be in the company of those on whom Allaah has bestowed His Grace, of the Prophets, the Siddiqoon (those followers of the Prophets who were first and foremost to believe in them, like Abu Bakr AsSiddiq), the martyrs, and the righteous. And how excellent these companions are!” [An-Nisaa`:69].

And the siddiqoon are the people of knowledge; they are the inheritors of the Prophets.

The status of the scholars of the Sunnah is a great and honourable one and their rights upon the Muslims are numerous. It is upon us to deal with them in accordance to the guidelines of the Sharee’ah without being extreme or negligent.

Our Shaykh (hafidhahullaah) then proceeded to say, may Allaah have mercy on a person that rectified himself, feared his Lord, and gave the rights to whomever it is due to before he meets his Lord while he has prevented the rights from its people and thus he is chained with what he has done. So it is incumbent upon us to advise one another with birr and taqwa, to warn each another from falling into innovation, evil or anything that has been warned against and we must rectify our affairs by being upon steadfastness in the Deen.

~ Except Him Who Brings to Allah a Sound Heart – Shaykh Muhammed al-Imaam [Video|Ar-En]

Shaykh Muhammed al-Imaam – telelink at Masjid Daar us Sunnah – dusunnah
Video made by amrzub

Excerpt :

“And of them are some who made a covenant with Allâh (saying): “If He bestowed on us of His Bounty, we will verily, give Sadaqâh (Zakât and voluntary charity in Allâh’s Cause) and will be certainly among those who are righteous. Then when He gave them of His Bounty, they became niggardly [refused to pay the Sadaqâh (Zakât or voluntary charity)], and turned away, averse. So He punished them by putting hypocrisy into their hearts till the Day whereon they shall meet Him, because they broke that (covenant with Allâh) which they had promised Him and because they used to tell lies. Know they not that Allâh knows their secret ideas, and their Najwa (secret counsels), and that Allâh is the All-Knower of the unseen.”

They Brought Forth a Terrible Thing Ascribing a Son to Allaah by Shaykh Muhammad al-Imaam

Bismillaah wa -Alhamdulillaah wa Salaatu wa Salaam ‘alaa Rasulillaah ‘amma ba’d

Muwahhideen Publications facilitated a LIVE tele-lecture with Shaykh Muhammad Ibn ‘Abdullaah al-Imaam (hafidhahullaah), who is one of the major scholars of our time.  The Shaykh supervises Markaz Dar-ul-Hadeeth in Ma’barYemen

Listen / Download Mp3 Here or Here (Time 47:24)

Our Noble Shaykh Muhammad al-Imaam (hafidhahullaah) delivered a powerful lecture in refutation of the christians and those who claim that ‘Eesaa Ibn Maryam is the son of Allaah, bringing the necessary proofs from the texts – the Book of Allaah and the sunnah of His Messenger (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

The Shaykh commenced by mentioning that all of us were born upon the fitrah (the natural dispostion) and explained that between the time of Aadam and Nuh, the people were one nation united upon Tawheed. When disbelief increased and shirk (polytheism) entered into the deen (religion), Allaah sent the various prophets to clarify the truth to people and call them to tawheed, like NuhMusaa‘Eesaa and Muhammad (‘alayhum as-salaam).

He then went on to say that the nasaara (christians) remained upon the haqq (truth) for a long time until ayahoodi (jew) who feigned piety and worship came along and caused the people to deviate from the correct religion of ‘Eesaa. When this happened and truth became hidden, Allaah sent Muhammad (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) to save the people from shirk (polytheism) and kufr (disbelief).

The Shaykh (hafidhahullaah) continued by explaining that if an individual disbelieves in a single Prophet then he has also disbelieved in those that came before and after. So in reality, the christians have disbelieved in ‘Eesaa (‘alayhi salaam), the one they claim to revere due to them rejecting Muhammad (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

Our Shaykh then went on to elaborate on the great calamity of shirk (polytheism); that it is the most evil of actions and severest of dhulm (oppression); it is the most dangerous sin upon an individual and because of it Allaah has destroyed many nations and peoples.

Clarifying the matter, Shaykh Muhammad explained that ‘Eesaa and his mother Maryam are totally free from the christian’s worship of them and on the Day of Judgement ‘Eesaa Ibn Maryam will free himself from their worship of him and his mother.

In closing the Shaykh stated that even within christianity there is major contradiction as some say that ‘Eesa is God, while some say he is the son of God while others say he is one in three and the like of this. Finally, he went on to say that ‘Easaa will descend in the time of the Mahdi in order to kill the Dajjaal (anti-christ); he will implement the laws of Muhammad (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), call the people to Tawheed and clarify the affair to the christians.

This lecture was indeed one potent with much benefit and clarification. ALL are encouraged to listen to it in its entirety and share it with others.

“The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
Seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim.’”
(Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Sunan Ibn Maajah)

Allah, the Exalted, says:

“And say: `My Rubb! Increase me in knowledge.” (20:114)
“Are those who know equal to those who know not?”’ (39:9)
“Allah will exalt in degree those of you who believe, and those who have been granted knowledge.” (58:11)
“It is only those who have knowledge among His slaves that fear Allah.” (35:28)

Abu Musa (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said,

“The guidance and knowledge with which Allah has sent me are like abundant rain which fell on a land. A fertile part of it absorbed the water and brought forth profuse herbage and pasture; and solid ground patches which retained the water by which Allah has benefited people, who drank from it, irrigated their crops and sowed their seeds; and another sandy plane which could neither retain the water nor produce herbage. Such is the similitude of the person who becomes well-versed in the religion of Allah and receives benefit from the Message entrusted to me by Allah, so he himself has learned and taught it to others; such is also the similitude of the person who has stubbornly and ignorantly rejected Allah’s Guidance with which I have been sent.”

Bismillaah wa -Alhamdulillaah wa Salaatu wa Salaam ‘alaa Rasulillaah ‘amma ba’d

Our Shaykh, Ash-Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Abdullaah al-Imaam (May Allaah Preserve Him) delivered a beautiful and potent tele-lecture to Muwahhideen Publications on Saturday 14th July, 2012, as part of Masjid Nur Allaah’s conference, “Preparing for Ramadhaan” with guest speakers Hamza AbdurRazaaq, Abu Muhammad Jamayky, AbdurRahmaan al-Afriki, and Amin Manning. The Shaykh is one of the major scholars of our time from Yemen and supervises markaz Dar-ul-Hadeeth in Ma’bar, Yemen, May Allaah preserve him. The lecture is entitled, “The Sunan and Bidaa of Ramadhaan.” This event was broadcast LIVE in Masjid Ibn ‘Abbaas, Tobago, two masaajid in Trinidad, Masjid ul Khaleefah and Masjid us Sunnah, and four masaajid in the U.S. Masjid Al-Bukhaari, Florida, Masjid Ibn ‘Abbas, Georgia, Masjid Uthaymeen, New Jersey, and Masjid Nur Allaah, New York.

The Shaykh gave an encouragement to the brothers and sisters to use the month of Ramadhaan to cut off the desires that are produced as a result of eating and drinking. He mentioned that fasting liberates the human from the slavery of his desires. The Shaykh then emphatically encouraged the muslimeen to practice the many sunaan that are narrated from the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), and use the time in Ramadhaan to correct one’s self, heart and soul and fill it with the taqwa of Allaah. The Shaykh said that Ramadhaan is an opportunity to gain assistance and protection from Allaah, and it is a chance to increase in eeman and guidance and to be raised in levels, but it must be understood that this is according to what one practices correctly in your fasting. He mentions the statement of Shaykh ul Islaam ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) that not every difficulty is rewarded in ibaadah (worship) the slave is rewarded for that which he has benefited from by using that as a means to correct himself, so the individual who stays away from the mukhalifat of the shariah and the bidaa in the deen, this is the one who will truly be raised in levels and have his rewards multiplied. The Shaykh continues with much more benefit for the ummah.

We ask Allaah to guide us to the Sunnah and its pure teachings and protect us from the evil of innovations in the deen.
