Bismillaah wa -Alhamdulillaah wa Salaatu wa Salaam ‘alaa Rasulillaah ‘amma ba’d
On Thursday 17th January 2013, Muwahhideen Publications hosted a LIVE tele-link lecture with the Noble Shaykh Muhammad Ibn ‘Abdullaah al-Imaam (May Allaah Preserve him) who lectured to us about the hadeeth concerning honouring the elderly Muslim, memorizer of Qur’aan and just ruler.

Our Shaykh Muhammad al-Imaam (hafidhahullaah) started by saying, it has been narrated by nine of the companions (radhiyAllaahu ‘anhum) that the Messenger (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said,
“Verily Allaah has given everyone their due right.”
This great hadeeth shows us there is not a single creation of Allaah except that it has rights in the Sharee’ah of Islaam; even the animals have rights. So how about the rights of the believers upon one another. If you want to ask for your rights in full, then ask for them in accordance to the Sharee’ah; and research your rights in it.
Firstly, there are the rights of Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’alaa which must be established, then the rights of the slaves of Allaah. As for the rights ofAllaah, they are well known; that is At-Tawheed and it is to be sincere to Allaah in all actions of worship. So whoever establishes the worship and Lordship for Allaah which includes being pleased with His legislation and to submit to His Decree and Pre-Destiny, then this individual has established the religion and is upon great good from Allaah.
The rights of the creation that were legislated in the Sharee’ah, specifically the rights of the believing men and women upon one another are many. From them is what has been indicated in the hadeeth of Abu Musaa al-Ash’ari (radhiyAllaahu ‘anhu) that the Messenger (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said,
“It is out of reverence to Allaah in respecting an aged Muslim, and the one who commits the Qur’aan to memory and does not exaggerate pronouncing its letters not forgets it after memorizing it, and to respect the just ruler.”
The Shaykh then stated that to glorify the rights of the Sharee’ah is in itself glorification of Allaah. He proceeded to say that the mentioning of honouring the elderly from amongst the Muslims is indicative that the elderly in age must be honoured, even if there is no blood relation between you and them. With respect to the elderly who are related to you by blood, it is required that you honour, respect, be humble to and serve them even more. Look to what Allaah has advised us with concerning the rights of the parents and how we are supposed to honour them so how about the elderly from amongst us.
Allaah says in the Qur’aan,
“And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour. And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say: “My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was small.” [Al-Israa`:23-24]
This honourable ayah has gathered all of the good manners and etiquettes that are binding upon the sons and daughters towards their parents. It includes all of the rights and obligations, which all the laws of this world are incapable of fulfilling or even comprehending, regarding being upon piety toward one’s parents. So praise Allaah, your Lord, Who has sent down the Qur’aan and preserved it till the Day of Judgement.
Likewise, if you were to look at what the Sharee’ah came with regarding the rights of the people of knowledge you would find that they have been given a right and position after that of the Prophets and Messengers.
As Allaah says,
“And whoso obeys Allaah and the Messenger (Muhammad sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), then they will be in the company of those on whom Allaah has bestowed His Grace, of the Prophets, the Siddiqoon (those followers of the Prophets who were first and foremost to believe in them, like Abu Bakr AsSiddiq), the martyrs, and the righteous. And how excellent these companions are!” [An-Nisaa`:69].
And the siddiqoon are the people of knowledge; they are the inheritors of the Prophets.
The status of the scholars of the Sunnah is a great and honourable one and their rights upon the Muslims are numerous. It is upon us to deal with them in accordance to the guidelines of the Sharee’ah without being extreme or negligent.
Our Shaykh (hafidhahullaah) then proceeded to say, may Allaah have mercy on a person that rectified himself, feared his Lord, and gave the rights to whomever it is due to before he meets his Lord while he has prevented the rights from its people and thus he is chained with what he has done. So it is incumbent upon us to advise one another with birr and taqwa, to warn each another from falling into innovation, evil or anything that has been warned against and we must rectify our affairs by being upon steadfastness in the Deen.

Excerpt :
“And of them are some who made a covenant with Allâh (saying): “If He bestowed on us of His Bounty, we will verily, give Sadaqâh (Zakât and voluntary charity in Allâh’s Cause) and will be certainly among those who are righteous. Then when He gave them of His Bounty, they became niggardly [refused to pay the Sadaqâh (Zakât or voluntary charity)], and turned away, averse. So He punished them by putting hypocrisy into their hearts till the Day whereon they shall meet Him, because they broke that (covenant with Allâh) which they had promised Him and because they used to tell lies. Know they not that Allâh knows their secret ideas, and their Najwa (secret counsels), and that Allâh is the All-Knower of the unseen.”

~ They Brought Forth a Terrible Thing Ascribing a Son to Allaah – Shaykh Muhammad al-Imaam [Audio|Ar-En]

Our Noble Shaykh Muhammad al-Imaam (hafidhahullaah) delivered a powerful lecture in refutation of the christians and those who claim that ‘Eesaa Ibn Maryam is the son of Allaah, bringing the necessary proofs from the texts – the Book of Allaah and the sunnah of His Messenger (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).
The Shaykh commenced by mentioning that all of us were born upon the fitrah (the natural dispostion) and explained that between the time of Aadam and Nuh, the people were one nation united upon Tawheed. When disbelief increased and shirk (polytheism) entered into the deen (religion), Allaah sent the various prophets to clarify the truth to people and call them to tawheed, like Nuh, Musaa, ‘Eesaa and Muhammad (‘alayhum as-salaam).
He then went on to say that the nasaara (christians) remained upon the haqq (truth) for a long time until ayahoodi (jew) who feigned piety and worship came along and caused the people to deviate from the correct religion of ‘Eesaa. When this happened and truth became hidden, Allaah sent Muhammad (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) to save the people from shirk (polytheism) and kufr (disbelief).
The Shaykh (hafidhahullaah) continued by explaining that if an individual disbelieves in a single Prophet then he has also disbelieved in those that came before and after. So in reality, the christians have disbelieved in ‘Eesaa (‘alayhi salaam), the one they claim to revere due to them rejecting Muhammad (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).
Our Shaykh then went on to elaborate on the great calamity of shirk (polytheism); that it is the most evil of actions and severest of dhulm (oppression); it is the most dangerous sin upon an individual and because of it Allaah has destroyed many nations and peoples.
Clarifying the matter, Shaykh Muhammad explained that ‘Eesaa and his mother Maryam are totally free from the christian’s worship of them and on the Day of Judgement ‘Eesaa Ibn Maryam will free himself from their worship of him and his mother.
In closing the Shaykh stated that even within christianity there is major contradiction as some say that ‘Eesa is God, while some say he is the son of God while others say he is one in three and the like of this. Finally, he went on to say that ‘Easaa will descend in the time of the Mahdi in order to kill the Dajjaal (anti-christ); he will implement the laws of Muhammad (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), call the people to Tawheed and clarify the affair to the christians.
This lecture was indeed one potent with much benefit and clarification. ALL are encouraged to listen to it in its entirety and share it with others.

“The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
‘Seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim.’”
(Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Sunan Ibn Maajah)
Allah, the Exalted, says:
“And say: `My Rubb! Increase me in knowledge.” (20:114)
“Are those who know equal to those who know not?”’ (39:9)
“Allah will exalt in degree those of you who believe, and those who have been granted knowledge.” (58:11)
“It is only those who have knowledge among His slaves that fear Allah.” (35:28)
Abu Musa (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said,
“The guidance and knowledge with which Allah has sent me are like abundant rain which fell on a land. A fertile part of it absorbed the water and brought forth profuse herbage and pasture; and solid ground patches which retained the water by which Allah has benefited people, who drank from it, irrigated their crops and sowed their seeds; and another sandy plane which could neither retain the water nor produce herbage. Such is the similitude of the person who becomes well-versed in the religion of Allah and receives benefit from the Message entrusted to me by Allah, so he himself has learned and taught it to others; such is also the similitude of the person who has stubbornly and ignorantly rejected Allah’s Guidance with which I have been sent.”

Bismillaah wa -Alhamdulillaah wa Salaatu wa Salaam ‘alaa Rasulillaah ‘amma ba’d
Our Shaykh, Ash-Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Abdullaah al-Imaam (May Allaah Preserve Him) delivered a beautiful and potent tele-lecture to Muwahhideen Publications on Saturday 14th July, 2012, as part of Masjid Nur Allaah’s conference, “Preparing for Ramadhaan” with guest speakers Hamza AbdurRazaaq, Abu Muhammad Jamayky, AbdurRahmaan al-Afriki, and Amin Manning. The Shaykh is one of the major scholars of our time from Yemen and supervises markaz Dar-ul-Hadeeth in Ma’bar, Yemen, May Allaah preserve him. The lecture is entitled, “The Sunan and Bidaa of Ramadhaan.” This event was broadcast LIVE in Masjid Ibn ‘Abbaas, Tobago, two masaajid in Trinidad, Masjid ul Khaleefah and Masjid us Sunnah, and four masaajid in the U.S. Masjid Al-Bukhaari, Florida, Masjid Ibn ‘Abbas, Georgia, Masjid Uthaymeen, New Jersey, and Masjid Nur Allaah, New York.
The Shaykh gave an encouragement to the brothers and sisters to use the month of Ramadhaan to cut off the desires that are produced as a result of eating and drinking. He mentioned that fasting liberates the human from the slavery of his desires. The Shaykh then emphatically encouraged the muslimeen to practice the many sunaan that are narrated from the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), and use the time in Ramadhaan to correct one’s self, heart and soul and fill it with the taqwa of Allaah. The Shaykh said that Ramadhaan is an opportunity to gain assistance and protection from Allaah, and it is a chance to increase in eeman and guidance and to be raised in levels, but it must be understood that this is according to what one practices correctly in your fasting. He mentions the statement of Shaykh ul Islaam ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) that not every difficulty is rewarded in ibaadah (worship) the slave is rewarded for that which he has benefited from by using that as a means to correct himself, so the individual who stays away from the mukhalifat of the shariah and the bidaa in the deen, this is the one who will truly be raised in levels and have his rewards multiplied. The Shaykh continues with much more benefit for the ummah.
We ask Allaah to guide us to the Sunnah and its pure teachings and protect us from the evil of innovations in the deen.
